Issue 181: America Offline! Pay to code? Bad AI hackers…
WeAreDevelopers World Congress 8-10/7/26 - get 15% off using code devdigest
Hello fellow developer, did you have trouble connecting to the internet this morning? The reason might be that AOL shut down dial-up internet after 34 years. I do remember the times the modem required a few noisy attempts before I could look at JPGs to render slowly but unreliably. Good thing we have steadier connections these days and simpler ways to go online, but it sure feels like the end of a big part of my life. Moving on, we finished post production on all WeAreDevelopers World Congress videos and will soon share ffmpeg/imagemagick tricks. For now, here's some good stuff to read in the shade or cooled environment - it's 34 degrees here, and I am out! +++NO CARRIER
Artur Ortega is a blind developer that I was lucky to have worked with. Not only did the teach me tons about accessibility, he also showed that not seeing your code doesn't mean you're bad at writing it. In this talk he gave at our Accessibility and AI day in June he went even further, proving that people with different abilities played a huge part in all the inventions that make our lives better now. Check out this amazing talk!
