Issue 171 - AI in disguise, Doomed tech and system prompts

WeAreDevelopers World Congress 9-11/7/25 - get 15% off using code devdigest

Hello fellow developer, the news of the week to me was that the hugely promoted AI development company Builder.ai did not only live up to the financial expectations, but also turned out not to use AI, but 700 developers in India instead. Seems to be the first time AI lost its job to humans… After all, human coders are still better than LLMs, so go, fellow biped carbon-based life forms! Talking of working well together, have you heard of Penpot? I just did and it was one of my fave Coffee With Developers episode ever:

Coffee with Developers - Pablo Ruiz-Muzquiz - Building Open Source tools for developers and designers

We sat down with Pablo Ruiz-Múzquiz from Penpot to talk about their approach to enable developers and designers to work with each other in the same, open source tool merging their ways of working instead of trying to make each other redundant. The big revelation for us was to learn how to approach open source in a maintainable fashion with secured revenue that does not hurt the underlying project. Check out how developers and designers can collaborate effectively.
